one of the many open spaces from the open space alliance/movement in CO and other neighboring states. A nice concept, the park and its facilities were beautiful, clean and well kept. We were there with the aim of hiking the Kruger rock and I am glad to say we were successful in that.
This is a county campground that is well-maintained and generally awesome. It has a dump station and potable water. The camp site and the restrooms were very clean. If food lock boxes for bears. No cell service. There is a great hike to Kruger Rock (a mountain really) in the open space with a fantastic 360 view.
Jenny lat the front desk absolutely ruined my family's experience here. After a miscommunication between their staff led to Maintenance taking my personal ladder from my campsite, Jenny yelled aggressively at me while I was trying to retrieve it from their staff, including gaslighting me on what she said earlier in the conversation and telling me I was in the wrong claiming my checkout day was the day prior until paperwork was referenced.
While the rest of the staff were very nice and pleasant, after the sheer intensity of Jenny I can't recommend this campsite when there are others in town with nicer amenities and more importantly, nice and respectful staff.
Beautiful area and well maintained and marked trails! I did Kruger rock a couple months ago with my dog to catch the sunrise and the views up top are very worth the incline! Today I took Moose Meadow to Limber Pine back and it was equally gorgeous. The trails are lined with wildflowers and the views again are worth it. The trail is easy to follow and hardly anyone else on the trail with you. Trailhead is easy to find with a well maintained rest room.
Staying here was an absolute WIN. We stayed in bobcat campground site B01. The site was large and felt secluded with the natural rock and trees between sites. All sites had lots of space between them. Having the drinking water close by was also nice so that we could fill up whenever we needed. The vault toilets were the cleanest I have EVER experienced. The rangers were very welcoming and kept a close eye on things to assure that campers were following the guidelines that would keep this park natural and beautiful which I really appreciated. We had deer and elk walk through or along the edge of our camp. The wildflowers blanketed the ground. If you are in need of showers, which they don't have I recommend Village laundry in estes park less than 10 minutes away. Also, hiking in RMNP was just a little more than a 30 minute drive to beaver meadows entrance. Only suggestion to park staff would be to maybe add some signage for Krueger rock trailhead. We had lots of hikers end up at our site asking where the trailhead is. I assume they were following the first sign that says Krueger which is to the overflow lot. Didn't mind helping ofcourse but in our 4 day stay we probably redirected atleast 10 different hiking parties. Highly recommend this campground.
The park itself was nice but the lady at the front desk is extremely rude. We went into the park to look for a campsite and followed the marked signs to purchase a pass before entering the park, so we purchased an entry pass. We found a campsite we wanted and went to the camp office. When she charged us for the campsite, she did not ask us if we had already purchased a pass per the signs and charged us for a second one. We didn’t notice until a few minutes later and asked if she knew she charged us for a pass when we had already purchased one. She said “no refunds, thank you for your contribution to the park!”. It seemed intentional. The park was beautiful but intentionally double charging people for passes when the signs make you buy one on entry is dishonest. She should have asked if we had already bought one or corrected the error once we asked her about it.
classic county park, way way cheaper than national parks and way less crowded. the hike up to Krueger rock is a bit grueling if you are out of shape, but the view is spectacular. be sure you climb the rocks at the end!
We rented out the pavilion and had our DIY wedding here on 9/19/2020. It was a dream! Diana was in charge of making sure the pavilion was set up. Since it was an open area, we were worried about hikers walking through, but the pavilion is kind of secluded and there aren't trails next to it so we didn't have any issues with people walking through. Also there were signs down the gravel road leading to the pavilion to let people know there was a private event. Diana had her team put the arch up for us and move the picnic tables to provide seating instead of us renting chairs. Other couples have had their ceremony in the meadow area but we had ours right near the aspen grove closer to the pavilion! The leaves were just starting to change so it was a perfect fall backdrop. After the ceremony, we all went for a hike to Kruger Rock to catch a view and take pictures overlooking Estes Park. This was a fun and, in my opinion, much better alternative to pricey wedding venues in Estes park because the pavilion rental fee goes towards supporting local open spaces and we got to hike/enjoy the breathtaking scenery. We had the pavilion for the whole day, from 8 am- 9 pm but we had our reception somewhere else. I would highly recommend considering this space for a wedding!
